收藏許多著名的印象派大作和重要的現代美術作品
（可惜的是現代美術新館五月底開幕　行前功課沒做好　錯過了）　
The Art Institute of Chicago

There are a lot Impressionism art work and important modern artwork.

A whole new building to display modern art will be opened 2 weeks later. We missed it.


印象派中重要的女畫家Mary Cassatt（其他的印象派大家大概都太熟了我就不放了）

The Field Museum 芝加哥的自然史博物館

超大 我們花了兩天才走馬看花地看了一半

A natual histry museum in Chicago.

Huge. We spent 2 whole Days and only saw half of it with a glance.

蘇(Sue) 現存世界最大最完整的的暴龍化石

不知道她喜不喜歡玩撿肋骨遊戲

Sue, the world's largest, most complete and most famous T. rex.

暴龍牙齒 真的露出來的部分只有１／３　但是可以知道咬力有多強

Sue' tooth. Only 1/3 will be showed outside, but you can tell how strong jaw she had.

研究人員正在用類似牙醫用具的東西清理化石 真傷眼的工作阿

One of the museum staff is cleaning a fossil with a tool like dentists use on your teeth

豐富完整的動物標本展示 個人認為比紐約.華盛頓DC的還多

A great collection of animals. I think it's more than DC's and New York's.

悟空來也 This is where the Monkey king comes from.

全世界最大的青蛙 頻臨絕種 住在非洲 能跳三公尺高

The largest frog in the world. Endangerd.

值得一提的是　這個博物館展示空間設計的非常棒　

內容豐富又淺顯易懂　深具教育意義　

The exhibitions there are so good and educatinal.

這是一間美國中部印地安人Pawnee過去的住家實體模型
一般是由三四十人組成的家戶　中間是火塘　內側是他們的神明廳（哈）
火塘旁邊的小帳篷是他們夏季冬季舉家外出獵野牛時的臨時帳篷模型

This is a Pawnee earth house.

Pawnee are a Native American tribe historically living in present-day Nebraska and in Northern Kansas. Usually there were 30-40 people in a family. They lived in this house during spring and fall, otherwise they went on buffalo hunts on summer and winter.

水族館 Shedd Aquarium

很棒的水族館 只可惜我們早到了兩個禮拜 海洋新館（聽說有白鯨寶寶）正在整修 無緣得見

We were 2 weeks earlier to see the new Oceanarium after a overhaul. :(

芝加哥印象 Chicago Trip

探索城市 一切都從地鐵開始

芝加哥的電車系統四通八達 非常方便

不過因為發展較早 已呈現老態 (部分路段正積極整修中)

建築物的美卻歷久彌堅
芝加哥以摩天大樓聞名於世 原以為會是個極具現代感的摩登城市
然而此地古典與現代建築卻融合交錯 也互別苗頭

可以感覺到 上個世紀眾多頂尖建築師在這塊土地上的瘋狂競賽

這棟建築物特別吸引我的注意
外牆上鑲嵌了世界各地來的著名建築殘塊

金字塔的石頭 萬里長城的磚 紫禁城的瓦 ........

湖畔的三明治野餐
學生時代 地理課畫過無數次的五大湖之一密西根湖就在我眼前
我卻看不到那熟悉的茄子形狀 因為這湖比台灣還大的多
要不是那湖綠色的平靜水面一再提醒我 我真的願意相信這是海

外星怪物? Alien?

這是千禧公園的大豆豆 (原名其實是雲門)

Now everyone call it the Bean.

還在玩 So fun

公園內的表演場所 巨大無比(這只有一半)

A huge performance space in the Millennium Park

這可是個噴泉 從哪噴呢? A foutain. Guess where the water comes from?


當然是嘴裡囉 The mouth, of course.


芝加哥文化中心 Culture Center

進去參觀不小心遇到一場免費的音樂會正要開始 正好讓我們的腳休息一下

A free concert was holding there. We were lucky.

世界最大的Tiffany 玻璃鑲嵌圓頂

The biggest Tiffany glass dome in the world.

街頭的一對著名老夫婦 A famous couple.


這是芝加哥旁邊一個叫做Oak Park的小城

是著名建築師Frank Wright的住家及工作室
可惜我們到的時候已經七點多了 無法入內參觀

(插曲: 我們坐藍線電車到那 走了40.50分鐘才到 卻發現原來坐綠線 只要走15分鐘)

Oak Park, a town near Chicago.

Frank Wright, a famous architect, This is his home and studio.

We were late so we didn't get chance in.

海明威幼年的家也在這裡唷 一樣也是暗暝矇阿

Hemingway's house from birth to age 6.

不過是個值得一去的小城 很多有趣的老建築

There are many old, elegant house in Oak Park.

芝加哥的當地餐廳 也是我們這趟唯一像樣的一頓

奇怪的是烤雞上的洋蔥 馬鈴薯上的起司和培根都是另外算錢的 $0.75 ??
不過還還算是便宜好吃動作快的餐廳

很有活力的餐廳
A local restaurant. Cheap, fast and taste good.
